The Bahamas are an extraordinary Island that contains a lot of ancient culture traditions, mixed nationality, unique food, and a burst of originality from coast to coast. The Bahamas were originally discovered by European Explorer Christopher Columbus in 1492. Earlier years in the Bahamas were very harsh due to European settlement. The other ethics groups would include Caucasian by 4.7%, African American and Caucasian by 2.1%, other by 1.9%, and unspecified by 0.7%. So in other words anybody living in the Bahamas at this second is considered a national citizen. In the Bahamas there are specifically only two main languages used. The two main languages spoken in the Bahamas is English and second being Creole from among Haitian immigrants living in the Bahamas. Today the Bahamas are one of the wealthiest Caribbean countries. Their economy alone is heavily dependent on tourism and offshore banking. Tourism together with tourism-driven construction and manufacturing accounts for 60% of GDP. Tourism in the Bahamas employs half of a single strip of Islands labor force. Today the Bahamas are the number one place to visit while on the holidays.
